A very distinctive and beautiful form, collected by Ernest Wilson, which has corymbs of white flowers in summer but more importantly, large heavy, drooping bunches of red berries which persist into winter. Gets more impressive each year - the original plant from Trewithen garden is a magnificent sight each year. (Some forms of betulifolium can be miserable fruiters). Highly recommended, this is the Award of Merit form from 1936.
