Just in relation to the ginger it is always scarce and in demand because it is simply lovely. A beautifuly peachy primrose with contrasting anthers and filiments
and bets of all a delicious fragrance especially at night. I believe like watsonias, ginger lilies will be more desirable in our warmer gardens. They make beautiful pot plants, a bit of bubble wrap around the pot in the coldest gardens or a fine addition to the exotic border. Back to the plant, a lovely guy called Tony Schilling who recently passed collected this in the Dudh Kosi Valley, in Khumbu eastern Nepal back in 1966 and named this after his son (you may be familiar with Tara another hedychium named after his daughter). You can see many of Tony's treasures from his trips in the 'Himalayan Glade' at Wakehurst Place. Tony was a real trailblazer who made time to talk to people. This is a fine hedychium. A large flowered form of densiflorum.
