Sometimes easy to grow plants, and this will grow anywhere, can give enormous returns. "Black Lace' is a selection of nigra from trial, with almost black, heavily dissected leaves and pale pink, musk-scented flowers in June/July. Can be left to grow large as a specimen or cut back hard in early spring to produce vigorous new growth. Presents lots of contrast opportunities with perhaps silver buddlejas, brachyglottis or bright pittosporums (i.e. "Elizabeth' or "Irene Patterson).
